The Eureka Climb in Southbank, Melbourne is billed as Australia’s biggest vertical race. If you enjoy a healthy fitness challenge it’s time to lace up those running shoes and start warming up. This year it’s happening on Sunday 15 November so there’s no time to lose!

The Eureka Climb is just that: climbing to the observation deck of the Eureka Tower. Now remember that Eureka Tower is one of the tallest residential buildings in the world. So just how high is that? You’ll be climbing all the way to the 88th floor. That’s a total of 1642 steps. So yes, you might want to pack that water bottle too!

In terms of the number of stairs, the Eureka Climb ranks in the Top 20 stair climbs in the world. No wonder it plays host to an Elite Climb for some of the best stair climbers in Australia.

Why do the Eureka Climb?

So what is the attraction for you? Firstly, who doesn’t love the feeling of accomplishment after tackling a challenge?

Secondly, as you catch your breath at the finish you can drink in the views from the Eureka Skydeck. This observation deck is the highest in the southern hemisphere. Now those are views worth climbing for!

However, the most significant reason for participating in this amazing race is the funds that are raised for two important charities. Both Interplast and Whitelion are incredible charities dedicated to helping those who are disadvantaged. In fact, the motto of the Eureka Climb is Every step you take changes lives. And with ALL those steps you’ll be sure to contributing to big changes for those who benefit from these charities!

Are you still feeling a little daunted by the idea of huffing and puffing all the way up 88 floors? You can choose to enter as a walker or a climber depending on your level of fitness. So now you really have no excuse.

It’s time to put your best foot upward and start climbing!
